Busco camello. El título es click baiting a tope. Lo sé. Pero, le da rollo al asunto. Y no me puedes negar que es bastante más sexy que "busco proveedor de nepeta cataria".

Es de lo que vamos a hablar ahora. De proveedores.

No de drogas. O sí.

La idea la tengo más o menos madura: PuffyKitten es una marca de hierbas gateras; mentas para gatos; catnip. Pero, ¿qué formatos deberíamos vender? ¿Cómo encuentro proveedor? ¿Quién coñ*** vende esto?

Decidimos formatos

 Vale.

Nunca me había puesto a "hacer producto". Por lo visto para vender hierba hay que cultivarla, secarla, empacarla y mandarla. Todo esto si tienes clientes. Pero eso último lo medio controlo.

En mi cabeza hay cuatro formatos:

  • Aceite esencial de catnip en spray.
  • Liada en eles (para los no fumetas: son porros de tamaño XL)
  • En cogollitos.
  • Triturada.

Como aún no sé si esto de la hierba me va a sacar de pobre. Sacar los cuatro formatos del tirón me parece poco lean.

Tampoco sé si lean está bien usado aquí. No me he leído el libro del Eric Ries. Pero vamos, ya me entiendes: «No vendas la leche antes de ordeñar la vaca».

Así que la disponibilidad de estos cuatro formatos está sujeta a cambios.

¿El primero?

¿Qué hace un neófito de la cadena logística y el product management cuando quiere buscar proveedor?

Estás en racha, ¿eh? Pues ir a Alibaba y buscar "nepeta cataria".

Yo no sé si es cosa que soy señor mayor y no me entero. Pero la experiencia de compra (o de solicitud de presupuestos) en Alibaba me pareció muy-muy compleja.

No solo por las cantidades mínimas (hay fabricantes que ofrecen mínimos bajos); si no por la barrera del idioma y el huso horario. Estas búsquedas las hago por las tardes –madrugada en Asia–. Y me contestan de un día para otro.

Lo de las marcas con propósito

Para mi último cumpleaños querido esposo me regaló un cubo de basura súper guapo para que podamos reciclar. Tiene sus 4 compartimentos (para orgánico, resto, plástico y vidrio –nos gusta hincar el codo).

¿Y que tiene que ver este regalo con todo esto de encontrar proveedor?

Chica, que me gustaría dejar un planeta igual que cuando llegué. Por eso trato de comprar productos locales; de temporada; en el mercado de mi barrio.

Yo de branding no tengo mucha idea. Pero me gustaría que lo que hagamos desde PuffyKitten tenga el menor impacto en el planeta (y el mayor en mi cartera). Así que el tema de comprar la hierba a más de 8.000 kilómetros *quizás* no sea lo más coherente. Is this a brand value?

Estoy montando una tienda online de "marihuana para gatos", al estilo esta americana pero para vender en Europa.
Actualmente ando buscando un proveedor de nepeta cataria en tres formatos:
  1. Aceite esencial de Nepeta cataria (para el formato en spray)
  2. Nepeta cataria en cogollo seco
  3. Nepeta cataria triturada, que me sirva para producir también en formato enrollado (como la foto que adjunto).

La idea es marketear el producto como "porros para gatetes" jejeje.

Algunas preguntas:
    • ¿Podríais vender la nepeta cataria (catnip) en los tres formatos que necesitaría (aceite esencial, cogollos secos y triturada)? Sería genial poder comprarla a granel y empaquetarla nosotros con nuestra marca.

    • La segunda alternativa, sería comprar la planta viva y cultivarla y secarla nosotros. Aunque esto extendería mucho el tiempo (y yo soy especialista en marketing digital – no tengo un vivero jejeje).

Algunos números:

  • Correos enviados a potenciales proveedores: 22 (más a otros 3 que me pasaron compañeras de la empresa que me da de comer)
  • Respuestas: 6
  • Positivas: 1

El proveedor es perfecto: tiene el producto; capacidad para servirme en dos de los tres formatos que necesito; un precio razonable.

¿El problema?

El del vivero es un reconocido magufo/curandero.

¿Te acuerdas del cubo de basura?

Pues con esto igual. Soy escéptico militante. La magia no existe. Los curanderos no curan. Los discursos anticientíficos son peligrosos.

El señor por lo visto está jubilado y a priori desentendido del negocio del vivero. Le he comprado una muestra. Pero tengo dudas ¿éticas? sobre si debería seguir comprándole.

¿Debería seguir buscando camello?

¿Es una contradicción con los valores de la marca?

¿Tiro para adelante con este proveedor?
